Sanjeev Bhatia
M.D.

Dr. Sanjeev Bhatia finished his residency in internal medicine in 1998 at NYU Downtown Hospital in New York City. He did his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care from 1998-1999 at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Bhatia worked as an internist and ER doctor in the Midwest for five years before he moved to Victoria in 2004. Since 2004, he has worked as an internist and sees patients in the local hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hospice and Palliatative Care & Sleep Medicine. In 2007, Dr. Bhatia established Crossroads Health Center. He also currently is a Medical Director at Victoria Warm Springs, Carter Home Health, LaBahia Nursing Home, and Hospice of South Texas. His special interests include complex medical disorders, sleep disorders, geriatric, and end of life care. He admits patients to all local hospitals and nursing homes. Dr. Bhatia is a firm believer in education and provides several scholarships in nursing and general studies including Athlete of the Year/MVP award for East/West High School which recognizes academics, as well as, community involvement excellence.




John E. VanMetre
M. D.

John E. VanMetre, M. D. was raised in Iowa.  He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Iowa with high distinctions and was awarded Phi Beta Kappa. He completed medical school at the University of Iowa and finished his residency in Family Medicine at University of Fargo North Dakota. He has been board certified in Family Medicine since 1991.  Dr. VanMetre practiced in Iowa for 3 years and Nebraska for 17 years before coming to Victoria.  In addition, he completed a National Health Scholarship assignment three years on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation in South Dakota.  Practice includes the gamut of non-obstetrical family practice.  His outside interests includes:  reading, games and puzzles, bicycling and piano.  Dr. VanMetre is married with two children ages 21 and 14.
